Army men dominate

COIMBATORE, SEPT 13. The Army men swept as many as six medals on day seven of the 14th All India GV Mavlankar shooting championship organised by the National Rifle Association of India and conducted by the Coimbatore Rifle Club (CRC) at the CRC shooting range here today.

Army made it a clean sweep winning all three medals in the free pistol 50m individual events for Services men.

Raj Kumar of Army scored 265 for the gold, while Bapu Vanjare fell one short and had to rest content for the silver. C.K. Choudry of Army with a score of 258 finished for the bronze.

It was once again Army all the way in the individual events for Services juniors. Tarsem Singh (242), Manpreet Singh (240) and Sailendra Mishra (231), all from Army, finished for the three places respectively.

The results: (Free pistol 50m individual) Men: 1. Ramesh Kumar (Del) 257, 2. Yujvendra Singh (BSF) 257, 3. Anubhav Dhillon (UP) 256.

Men (Services): 1. Raj Kumar (Army) 265, 2. Bapu Vanjare (Army) 264, 3. C. J. Choudry (Army) 258.

Junior men (Services): 1. Tarsem Singh (Army) 242, 2. Manpreet Singh (Army) 240, 3. Sailendra Mishra (Army) 231.

Junior men: 1. Anuj Semwal (UA) 247, 2. Ravi Tomar (UP) 247, 3. Mohd Asif Iqbal Khan 244.
