CHENNAI, SEPT. 12. A German Shepherd and a Dobermann stole the show in the Madras Canine Club's 61st and 62nd championships, held concurrently, at the University Union ground on Sunday. The 61st championship was judged by Philip John and he picked `Ch. Quarz Vom Murrtal', a five-year old German Shepherd owned by Ms. Kala Krishna, for the coveted `best in show' prize from amongst a variety of breeds that were exhibited in front of a good gathering. `Ch. Valeska Deads I Win', a Boxer owned by Mr. K.S. Nagraj Setty was judged second best and a Pointer, `Southern Prides Quiver Of Arrows', owned by Mr. N. Ram and Mrs. Mariam Ram, placed next. `Ch. Aryanoush's Pistaccio Nut', a Boxer, owned by Mr. Kathir Narayanan, was adjudged the `best in show bred in India' while a Cocker Spaniel, `Charbonnel Swing `N' The Blues', owned by Mr. N. Ram and Mrs. Mariam Ram was declared the `best puppy in show'. The judge of the 62nd Championship, D. Krishnamurthy picked a Dobermann, `Sans Craintes Jump Shot', owned by Mr. S. Pathy, for the top honours of the show while the second best in show was a Bull Dog, `Yakya Bullcorner' owned by Mr. C.V. Sudarsan and the third place went to the Cocker Spaniel `Charbonnel Swing `N' The Blues', owned by Mr. N. Ram and Mrs. Mariam Ram. The `best in show bred in India' prize went to a Pekingese, `Ch. Audigold A Little Bit Special', owned by Mr. P. Balasubramanian and the `best puppy in show' prize went to a German Shepherd bitch, `After Effect' owned by Mr. Vishwas Raj.
