MANGALORE, SEPT. 6. Sangeetha Bharathi, an organisation associated with classical music activities in the city, will host a Hindustani classical vocal concert here on Wednesday, according to the vice-president of the organisation, Narendra Nayak.
He told presspersons here on Monday that the organisation was making efforts to promote Hindustani music in the region. Earlier, it had organised concerts by Hariprasad Chourasia, Shivkumar Sharma, Vishwa Mohan Bhat, Ustad Rasheed Khan, Ronu Majumdar, Ustad Shaeed and Parvez.
Sandipan Samajpati from Kolkatta would present his vocal concert here on Wednesday. He would be accompanied on the tabla by Rajendra Nakod of Bangalore and Vasant Kankapur of Dharwad. Entry is free. Samajpati is an A grade vocalist of Doordarshan and All India Radio. A Masters Degree holder in vocal music from Rabindra Bharathi University, Samajpati has won several awards.
