Maanikanth triumphs

UDHAGAMANDALAM, AUG 8. Maanikanth of LMS did not sweat much on his way to a 15-4, 15-3 win over Maashan Kaula for the boys under-13 singles title in the Nilgiris district badminton championship at the Anna Stadium here on Saturday.

Rahul Jayaram of LAW fashioned a similar victory in the sub-junior boys singles final. He humbled H. Gokul of BMS 15-1, 15-3 for the title.

Boys (U-13 singles Final): Maaniknath bt Maashan Kaula 15-4, 15-3.

Sub-junior singles: Final: Rahul Jayaram bt H. Gokul (BMS) 15-2, 15-3.

Junior singles (QF): H. Shibu bt Rahul (GV) 15-3, 15-4, Gibin Joseph (KPS) bt Shravan Prasad (KPS) 15-12, 15-8, Rahul Jayaram (LAW) bt N. Vinothraj (KPS) 15-2, 15-1, H. Gokul (BMS) bt B. Rajeswaran (LAW) 17-16, 15-10.

Girls: (Sub junior singles): Aparna Kirti Gautama (HIHS) bt Aditi Swati Gautama (HIHS) 13-11, 11-3.

Junior singles SF: Apeksha Appayya (HIL) bt Aditi Swati Gautama (HIHS) 11-0, 11-0, Aparna Kirti Gautama (HIHS) bt Kartiki Selena (HIL) 11-2, 11-6. Doubles Final: Apeksha Appayya & Kartiki Selena bt Aditi Swati Gautama & Aparna Kirti Gautama (HIHS) 14-17, 15-3, 15-13.
