Controversy mars KSCA league match
BANGALORE,
AUG. 8.
Controversy marred the KSCA league match in the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield Group I, first division here on Sunday.
The match between Swastic Union Cricket Club (2) and Malleswaram Gymkhana at the IAF Ground began on a wrong note as only seven players of SUCC (2) signed on the team list before the toss.
Malleswaram Gymkhana captain Yere Goud spotted the discrepancy and insisted that as per the rule, players who did not sign against their names should not play the match. A spate of arguments later, the match proceeded with SUCC (2) fielding just seven players. The match ended in a draw. The KSCA secretary, Brijesh Patel, said, "it was a technical problem and is not an issue. All the players were physically present at the ground but some of them failed to sign on the team list and as per rules, could not play. But the match did proceed and other relates issues will be sorted."
