Sania Mirza wins title
HYDERABAD,
AUG. 8.
Sania Mirza won the $10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament at Wrexham in Great Britain, defeating top-seeded Irina Boulykina of Russia 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the final.
According to information received here on Sunday, the Hyderabad girl showed gumption in clawing her way back from 1-4 in the second set, after having lost the first.
She then reeled off 10 games on the trot to wrap up the set.
This title triumph, her eighth singles title at this level, gives Sania nine points, including three bonus points, for beating a top 500 player in the semifinal and then a top 250 player in the final.
