The funny side of politics

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JUNE 30. The former Governor of Karnataka, V.S. Rama Devi, had some interesting anecdotes for the Andhra Pradesh legislators during her speech at a seminar on Wednesday.

One of them was about a Rajya Sabha member from Bihar during his first stint. "The member, Paswan (not Ram Vilas) got up, closed his eyes and began singing Laloo Chalisa in Hindi, which the Chairman, K. R. Narayanan, would not understand. But such a member could learn fast and soon became a member of a delegation sent to the UN nine months later," she recalled asking members to be industrious.

Another one pertained to Piloo Mody. "A member is not supposed to show his back to the Chair while walking out. Once Piloo Mody did exactly the same," she said.

When someone pointed this out to the Chair, the rotund Piloo Mody shot back, "Which is my back and which is my front. Even I cannot identify it."
