Bluelines claim two lives

NEW DELHI, JUNE 8. Two persons, including a young boy, were killed in separate road accidents involving Blueline buses in different parts of South Delhi on Monday.

In the first incident, a 40-year-old man travelling in a bus plying on route No. 490 was killed when he came under its rear wheels while alighting near the Chirag Dilli flyover. The Chittaranjan Park police have arrested the bus driver, Kant Kumar, and registered a case of causing due to rash and negligent driving causing death.

In another case, a 13-year-old boy sustained severe injuries when he fell from the Blueline bus he was travelling in, after another Blueline bus grazed it in a bid to overtake it from the left lane of the carriageway near Hamdard bus shelter on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. The victim was rushed to Majithia Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. His identity is yet to be established.

According to the police, the boy was travelling on a bus plying on route No. 548. The bus was on the right lane of the carriageway when the other Blueline bus, plying on route No. 525 appeared from behind and tried to overtake the first bus from the left lane and grazed it. The boy, who was sitting on the seat reserved for the handicaps, lost his balance due to the impact and fell on the road, due to which he sustained severe injuries.

The vehicle that hit the bus has not been traced. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered at the Sangam Vihar police station and efforts are on to identify the deceased. In the past three days, six fatal accidents have been reported from South Delhi.
