CNEW DELHI, JUNE 8. A North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) contractor was stabbed to death allegedly by a young man and his accomplice at Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi on May 31after he refused to restore the electricity connection at his residence which had been cut off for alleged non-payment of bill. The contractor had cut off the supply after the young man's father filed a civil suit in a court alleging that he had been providing illegal connections in the area. According to the police, it all started over a year ago when Jagdish Prasad, a resident Tripathi Enclave of Prem Nagar in Sultanpuri, filed a civil suit in a Delhi court against Daya Nath Mishra, the NDPL contractor of Janki Vihar, alleging that he had been providing illegal connections to people residing outside his jurisdiction. It is believed that the civil suit angered Daya Nath, who disconnected power supply to Jagdish's residence several months ago. Jagdish's son Mukesh visited Daya Nath's office on several occasions to get the supply restored. However, Daya Nath refused to budge asking him to withdraw the case against him first. An irked Mukesh then allegedly conspired with his friend, Ravinder, to eliminate him. On the fateful day, the duo went to Daya Nath's office and found him sleeping. They stabbed him in the stomach and chest and fled from the spot on a motorcycle. Daya Nath succumbed to his injuries in hospital the following day. Today, the police received a tip-off that Mukesh would come to Nangloi to meet his relatives. They mounted a raid there and arrested him. At his instance, they also recovered the motorcycle used in committing the crime. A hunt has been launched for his accomplice.
