Six held for drug trafficking

NEW DELHI, MAY 27. Six persons allegedly indulging in drug trafficking have been arrested from different parts of the Capital by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police. The police recovered 8 kg of heroin from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that two persons would deliver a heroin consignment to one of their clients at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminus in East Delhi this Sunday the police laid a trap around the rendezvous point. Around 4-30 p.m., they spotted the two suspects handing over a packet to the third person when they sprung into action and overpowered all the three. The police recovered 2.4 kg heroin from their possession.

During interrogation, they identified themselves as Mustaq, Mohammad Alam and Mohammad Imran. Mustaq revealed that although he was involved in several other activities, he was mainly into drug trafficking. He along with his accomplices work for a big time drug supplier from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, Samir. He was arrested the next day. Mustaq further disclosed that the accused, Imran, was Samir's brother-in-law.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Narcotics Branch), D.L. Kashyap, said another gang into drug trafficking was busted in the wee hours of Tuesday when the police arrested Akil Ahmed and Sushil, residents of Etah in Uttar Pradesh, from Connaught Place. In all, 5 kg heroin was recovered from their possession. In the third case, the Narcotics Branch arrested one Dalip Gupta while he was carrying 0.5 kg heroin.
