NEW DELHI, MAY 27. As in Class XII, girls have once again outclassed boys in the Class X examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). While the Class X results for the Chennai and Ajmer region have already been announced, those of the remaining four regions, including Delhi, would be announced at 8 a.m. on Friday. Registering a 4 per cent improvement in the pass percentage, 72 per cent of the over 5.6-lakh students who appeared in the Class X examinations this year have been successful with girls achieving a success rate of 73.28 per cent compared to 71.46 per cent of boys. The pass percentage has improved from 68.02 per cent in 2003 to 72.22 per cent this year. In all, 568,683 students appeared for the Class X examinations this year. Like in Class XII, the Chennai region has once again excelled in Class X with a success rate of 89.56 per cent. In the Class XII examinations, girls had a pass percentage of 82.28 against 71.29 of boys. The Chennai region also performed well in the Class XII with a pass percentage of 90.51. In fact, the Class X results for Chennai and Ajmer regions were announced on Sunday, while those for Delhi, Allahabad, Chandigarh and Guwahati regions covering 20 States and Union Territories will be announced on Friday at 8 a.m. These would be available on the CBSE websites -- www.cbse.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.results.nic.in. Individual results will also be available on websites www.htpace.com, www.results.sify.com, www.amarujala.com and www.southindia.com. Students can get their results on telephone Nos. 24357270 and 24357274 in Delhi and 1250111102 in Mumbai and Delhi, 1250102 in Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Ludhiana, Kanpur and Indore for BSNL subscribers or by dialing these numbers from other places.
