Honour for radiologist

NEW DELHI MAY 27. Eminent radiologist Sudershan K. Aggarwal has become the first Indian to be awarded the honorary membership of the European Congress of Radiology and the European Association of Radiology for his contribution in the field worldwide.

Dr. Aggarwal -- the founder President of the SAARC Society of Radiology -- has also been felicitated by various organisations in different parts of the world for his work in radiology. He has written more than 60 research articles and is also the founding editor of "Asian Oceanic Journal Of Radiology".

New phone numbers

NEW DELHI MAY 27. Around 1, 450 telephones with codes 2501 and 2502 working in Prem Nagar, Todarmal Colony, Najafgarh, Kharkhari Nahar, Kharkhari Jatmal, Kharkhari Raund, Khera Dabar, Pandwala Kalan, Hasanpur, Ghummanhera and Mundela villages would be transferred from Najafgarh-I telephone exchange to the state-of-the-art 5 ESS type exchange (code 2801) at Najafgarh-II on May 28.

According to a press release issued by the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, all the affected subscribers have been informed about their new telephone numbers. New numbers can be obtained from the computerised automatic change announcement service on 1951 or 1952.

In case of any difficulty, subscribers can contact the supervisor of Najafgarh telephone exchange on 25016590, the sub-divisional engineer on 25014511 or the divisional engineer on 25024444.

Maths Week celebrated

NEW DELHI MAY 27. Maths Week was celebrated at Goodley Public School in Shalimar Bagh here this past week. Launched to mark the 84th death anniversary of renowned Indian mathematician Srinivas Ramanjun on April 26, the week saw a number of speeches related to the subject being delivered by various experts here.

To further enhance an interest in the subject among students, the school organised various mathematical puzzles for students of Class III to XII. A rangoli competition was also organised on the topic with the designs presenting the importance of mathematics in everyday life. The school had last year taken up the suggestion of the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) to set up a maths lab, with the place now helping students to understand the concept of maths better.

Maharishi institute offer

NEW DELHI MAY 27. The Maharishi Institute of Management today announced 2,000 job guaranteed seats for students enrolling for various courses in its institute. Addressing a press conference here, the Institute director, P.K.Aggarwal, said while 1,000 of the seats would be marked for MBA, 500 seats would go for B.Ed, 500 for PGDEd.

Emphasising that the Maharishi Education system has always tried to introduce programme relevant to society, Mr. Aggarwal said the Maharishi University of Management and Technology has introduced newly designed programmes with due emphasis on technology.

Free eye camp

NEW DELHI MAY 27. Ramakrishna Mission Free TB Clinic and Medical Centre supported by HelpAge India will organise a free eye camp at Balmiki Sadan on Mandir Marg here this coming Sunday, May 30, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. Cataract patients will be selected at the camp and cataract surgery with IOL implantation will be done free of charge, according to an announcement by the organisers.
