By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI,
MAY 27.
The storm on Tuesday night claimed the life of a couple who were killed when the roof of the house collapsed at Sadar Bazar in North Delhi. Their three minor children had a miraculous escape as they were sleeping in another room.
According to the police, 40-year-old Shahabuddin, a resident of Nawab Road in Sadar Bazar, and his wife, Bano (36), were sleeping on the ground floor of the double-storey house. Their children - aged six, five and four - were sleeping in the other room. The couple's two other children had decided to sleep at the place where they used to work after they got stuck in the rain in the evening.
Around 1 a.m., when a severe storm hit the Capital, the roof of the room in which the couple, who used to work in a slaughter house, collapsed. They were killed on the spot.
The Sadar Bazar police have initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
