Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Madras High Court's decision that voter identity cards be issued to eunuchs in the gender category of their choice is a significant step. While we are sympathetic towards victims of child abuse, AIDS patients, animals, trees and what not, not many of us are able to resist ridiculing eunuchs when we see them. And, contrary to the public perception, they are not known to have been human bombs, terrorists or serial killers. The Government can consider giving them loans for self-employment, and they can be safely employed in NGOs.
