Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the article, "Employees and elections" (Feb. 24) which talks of manipulation of the electoral process by ruling parties and the willingness of many public employees to play along. While Government employees engaged in election work should be more responsible, voter apathy is also responsible for distorting election results.
Sir, Except the police and officers at the Returning Officer-level, empowered with magisterial powers, Government servants cannot do much to further the prospects of a ruling party. But with so many discerning voters not exercising their franchise, one cannot help feeling that people get the government they deserve.
