Seize and seal the file, orders Supreme Court

NEW DELHI, JAN. 28. The Supreme Court today directed the Registrar-General of the Gujarat High Court to immediately seize and seal the file from the court of a magistrate in Ahmedabad who allegedly issued bailable warrants against the President, the Chief Justice of India, a Supreme Court judge and a senior advocate.

Taking cognisance of a public interest litigation filed by a private television journalist, a Bench comprising Chief Justice V.N. Khare, Justice S.B. Sinha and Justice S.H. Kapadia, directed the Gujarat High Court Registrar-General to send the file to the Supreme Court by tomorrow, when the matter would come up for hearing before the Bench.

The Bench directed the Supreme Court Registrar-General to inform the Gujarat High Court Registrar-General about this order by phone and fax. — PTI
