The executive committee, which met here recently, described the action as "vindictive".
It termed the Chief Electoral Officer's decision to reduce the number of polling booths "arbitrary". At a time when there was an increase in the electorate, the CEO should have increased the booths. Reduction in booths would lead to bogus voting in rural areas.
The meeting expressed concern at the steep increase in the price of 40- count yarn, which, it said would affect weavers. The Government should take steps to supply yarn at a reasonable price.
