Letters to the Editor
Sir, The premature dissolution of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu's efforts to get the election dates advanced, smack of political opportunism. Evidently, he wants to take advantage of the sympathy wave created by the recent attempt on his life. By refusing to accede to his request, the Election Commission has demonstrated that as long as there are independent and impartial institutions such as the press, the Judiciary and the Election Commission, the country's democratic polity is in safe hands.
