A rude shock

Sir, — The three-member panel of former Madras High Court judges upholding the dismissal of 587 Government employees in Chennai (Nov. 18), including 530 Secretariat staff, and the State Government issuing a GO accepting the findings of the panel, have come as a rude shock. Their cases can be reviewed, at least on humanitarian grounds, taking into consideration the inevitable suffering that the affected and their families would undergo.

D. Samuel Lawrence,
Madurai, T.N.
