Sir, Whenever my father heard sensational news from someone, he used to pose the inevitable question: "Has it appeared in The Hindu"? Such was his faith in the paper's authenticity.
Sir, In 1943-44, my fourth form English teacher told me that if one was able to read and understand one of the two editorials in The Hindu, he could consider himself as having learnt English. And my doctor often says The Hindu is safe for a heart patient it is bland but authentic.
