A Bench, comprising Justice Motilal B. Naik and Justice D. Subrahmanyam, on Thursday appointed the committee with specific terms. After a decade of hearing, the Supreme Court has remanded the matter to a specially-designated Bench of High Court for further monitoring.
The apex court has directed implementation of joint action plan and for laying of 18-km pipeline from Patancheru to Amberpet to facilitate the discharge of treated effluents into the Musi.
This committee comprises Padmanabham and Surender Raj from the Pollution Control Board and one representative each from the National Institute of Nutrition and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, to be nominated by Directors of these institutes.
Criminal appeal ruling
M. Narayana Reddy, judge of the High Court, on Thursday ruled that the criminal appeal filed in the appeal court without prior directions of the State Government cannot be treated as a proper appeal. He observed that for the purpose of limitation, the direction to file an appeal should be within 90 days.
The ruling was given while dismissing the criminal appeal filed against the order of criminal court. The appellant contended that the appeal against his acquittal was filed without appropriate direction from the Government.
