The CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, talked to the fasting leaders and promised them that the issue of Srisailam water would be raised in the House during the current session. The PCC president, D. Srinivas, also assured the leaders that the party would take up a protracted struggle for Srisailam waters to Rayalaseema region. The fasting leaders, who included S.P.Y. Reddy, S. Mohan Reddy, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and others accepted lime juice from the party leaders and announced calling off the stir formally.
The leaders launched indefinite fast with the demand for stopping power generation at Srisailam and releasing water to Srisailam Right Canal. Leaders who were delegated by the party included Dharmana Prasada Rao, T.S. Appala Naidu, Varada Rambabu and others.
48 taken into custody
Meanwhile, the police took into custody 48 people, including 25 women in connection with the yesterday's violence at the RDO office.
