Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is good that the Supreme Court has directed the CBI to file an FIR against the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati, and a few top bureaucrats in the Taj Heritage scam. But the same Court is yet to give its verdict in many other cases which have been pending for long.

Sir, This refers to the editorial "Monument and folly" ( Sept. 19 ). By once again taking on the high and mighty, the Judiciary has vindicated the faith the people have reposed in it.

Sir, Ms. Mayawati's initial claim that she knew nothing about the project reminds me of the reply of a character in a Chinese tale, who, when caught with a stolen cow, says: "I only picked up one end of the rope. I didn't know there was a cow at the other end."
