Garware Polyester has two divisions. While the industrial products division is engaged in the manufacture of packaging films, motor insulation films, films for audio tapes and metallised yarn, the consumer products division is turning out sun control films. Out of the turnover of Rs. 600 crores, the sun control film accounted for 25 per cent. The company, which developed sun control film in 1982 through dyed film technology, had come out with many variants subsequently. The latest addition was `Classic Lite' meant for use in glasses of cars offering a heat rejection of up to 40 per cent and ultra violet (UV) protection up to 90 per cent, A. B. Bhalerao, director of the company, said.
