By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI AUG. 11. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has outbid equipment suppliers from China and the Czech Republic in an open global tender to bag a Rs. 1,412 crore order from the National Thermal Power Corporation. The tender is for the setting up of the 1,000 MW Stage-II of NTPC's Kahalgaon super thermal power project in Bihar, comprising two units of 500 MW each.

The BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages manufacture, supply, testing, erection and commissioning of steam turbine generators, supply of boilers, associated auxiliaries and electrical works for the two units, besides controls and instrumentation and electrostatic precipitators.

The turbines and boilers would be manufactured at BHEL's Hardwar and Tiruchi plants, respectively, while the control and instrumentation system would be supplied by the company's electronics division in Bangalore. The BHEL's Hyderabad plant would manufacture the coal mills and boiler feed pumps.
