Kanchi Acharya hails SC suggestion on civil code

CHENNAI JULY 24. The Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswati, has welcomed the Supreme Court suggestion that Parliament frame a common civil code for the country.

In a statement, he said the court had given the "recommendation after 50 years of Indian Independence" and appealed to the members of Parliament "to respect the court's recommendation and enact a law accordingly."
