By Our Staff Reporter
At a meeting here on Thursday, the JAC sought a minimum fare of Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 per every additional km. It demanded that the traffic police verify the correctness of autorickshaw meters on the spot and not seize the vehicles. The general secretary of the Auto Driver Brothers and convener of the JAC, Mohd. Amanullah Khan, held the Government responsible for the tampering of meters saying that it had not adopted a `realistic' approach in fixing the fare, a press release said. The meeting opposed the supply of loose oil at petrol stations and called for action against petrol adulteration. Auto drivers affiliated to the AITUC, the Indian Federation of Trade Unions, the BMS and others attended.
