Ranbaxy posts Rs. 197 cr. net in Q2

CHENNAI JULY 24. Ranbaxy Laboratories has registered a growth of 42 per cent in its net profit at Rs. 196.80 crores in the quarter ended June 30, 2003 against Rs. 138.40 crores in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Total sales were higher by 20 per cent at Rs. 858 crores against Rs. 714.40 crores. Domestic sales have risen by 15 per cent to Rs. 305.20 crores from Rs. 264.50 crores and exports by 23 per cent to Rs. 552.80 crores from Rs. 449.90 crores.

Net sales after deducting trade discounts were Rs. 827.70 crores against Rs. 683.10 crores. The profit before tax and extraordinary items has risen by 39 per cent to Rs. 236.10 crores from Rs. 169.70 crores.
