Orchid's profit up

CHENNAI JULY 24. Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals has achieved a turnover and an operating income of Rs. 172.92 crores for the quarter ended June 30, 2003 against Rs. 106.84 crores, a growth of 62 per cent over the corresponding period in the previous year.

The gross profit, before depreciation and interest charges, has risen to Rs. 33.09 crores from Rs. 22.08 crores and the profit before tax to Rs. 8.20 crores from Rs. 4.29 crores. The profit after tax stood at Rs. 7.57 crores against Rs. 2.91 crores.
