dated July 16, 1953: No Hope of Madras Trams

Chief MMinister Mr. C. Rajagopalachari said in the Madras Legislative Assembly that the Railways had expressed their inability to run the tramway service in the City, which had come to a stop following labour trouble. The Madras Government too, after considering the question from the public, business, and financial view-points had come to the conclusion that it could not take over and run the service.
