Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, the BJP state unit Vice-President, Kishan Singh Sangwan, claimed that HVP and INLD leaders had been keeping in touch with the BJP high command for electoral alliances but they were adopting a different posture in public. He said the non-Congress parties had come to power in the State only after striking a pact with the BJP but now they were ``trying to run down'' the BJP. ``Therefore, the party has decided to contest the Assembly elections independently,'' Mr Sangwan, an MP, said. He said the base of the BJP in rural areas had widened after the installation of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre as it had undertaken more development works in villages. He alleged that the ``three Lal's'' - Devi Lal, Bansi Lal and Bhajan Lal - had been ``duping'' the people for the last three decades and they had ``helped each other for remaining in power.'' The BJP, he said, would expose the nexus before the people during its poll campaign for the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.-- PTI
