Work with dedication, officials told

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH JULY. 13. The Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, today called upon the Haryana Civil Services officers to work with dedication for the integral development of the State and at the same time assured them that their administrative capability in enhancing the image of the State would be suitably rewarded.

Addressing a conference of the Haryana Civil Services Association at Karnal today, Mr.Chautala lauded the role of the State Civil Services in implementing the polices and programmes of the Government and maintaining a direct liaison with the public. All efforts would be made in providing them good work environment and funds would not be a constraint in this direction, he added.

Responding to a particular demand, Mr.Chautala said that the rationalisation of HCS officers was under process and their number was likely to go up to 300 in the near future. There were 193 HCS officers presently working in the State which was the highest figure ever. Maximum promotions and direct recruitments had been done during the tenure of his Government, he said. Honest and hard working officers had always been rewarded while the corrupt and dishonest officials had not been spared. To ensure good governance in the State, the officers had not been disturbed unnecessarily. The reports of many deserving officers, which had been spoilt by the previous governments due to personal grudges, had been improved to keep their morale intact.

The Finance Minister,Sampat Singh, appreciated that this conference had been organised after a long gap of 13 years.

The president of the HCS Officers Association, Rohtas Kharb, presented the charter of demands including time-scale promotions

and fixing of a time period of eight years for promotion. He hoped that the State Services would be strengthened and improved to enable them to work with greater efficiency.
