Training programme a huge success: MLAs

CHANDIGARH JULY 13 The BJP legislators from five northern states where the party is out of power attending the three-day training programme here have termed the camp a ``huge success'', saying ``it has provided us new energy to recommit and rededicate ourselves to people's cause and spreading awareness about our party's programmes and policies''.

A total of 42 MLAs out of 45 from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal are attending the camp which concludes today, national secretary of the BJP, O P Dhankar, said here.

Mr.Dhankar said that among the topics covered in the training programme were legislative performance, leadership, identity of BJP, effective role of opposition MLAs, nourishing of constituencies and how to keep abreast of happenings on technological front.

``The programme has been an enlightening one. Besides giving the much-needed break from our routine it has refreshed our memories on how an opposition MLA's conduct in the Vidhan Sabha should be and how to implement party's programme and policies keeping in view the interest of masses in mind,'' party's lone legislator from Jammu, Jugal Kishore said.

Tikshan Sood from Hoshiarpur and Avinash Rai Khanna from Garshankar in Punjab feel that the training programme has taught them time management and how to keep physically and mentally fit without losing sight of their priorities.

``Even though we are already aware about many things being told in this programme, but the interaction we have with our party MLAs from different states and with various national level leaders is what gives us a fresh boost of energy to meet up with the challenges,'' they said.

Veena Chibber from Ambala city in Haryana says she has benefitted a lot by the yoga session covering meditation and deep breathing exercises.
