Around 8,500 players will be benefiting from this plan, which the state body worked out with United India Insurance Company (Division IV). Drawn up specifically for a footballer and named the "Khelwar Bandhu Yojana'', the scheme will entail Rs. 25,000 per annum for each player of a team playing in the Calcutta Football League which has seven divisions and around 100 teams starting from the Super till the Fifth divisions. The women's league, the Nursery (sub-junior) league and the referees will also come under this scheme, informed the IFA secretary, Mr. Subrata Dutta on Saturday. The scheme will come into effect from Monday. This has come as a big help for the players of the smaller clubs as any injury during an IFA approved match also covering injuries in pre or post match training will have their medical expenses reimbursed. The IFA secretary, the coach and secretary of the respective clubs will be the endorsers for a particular claim. The scheme will also cover players playing for the state in national tournaments, including the age-group events. Apart from this each player will get Rs. 250 every week during the convalescence period, informed the secretary. Meanwhile, in the two super division matches held on Saturday, Railway FC beat Officer's Choice ERA 1-0 by Dinesh Shar's second-session goal.
