Nestling in a bonsai

By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM JULY 13. Two tailor birds have found a paediatrician's garden the safest place on earth to rear their chicks.

They have set up a nest on the leaf of a bonsai plant, which Josey Neroth has been nurturing for the past 25 years. The bonsai, a banyan tree, is placed by the front door of Dr. Neroth's house.

The birds have woven a nest on the leaf and meticulously cushioned the inside portion for the chicks. The mother has laid four white eggs, which has brown spots.

This is not the first time the birds have chosen the bonsai to brood.

Last year too, they had built a nest on the same plant and had laid three eggs.
