According to the District General Manager of the Pathanamthitta telecom district, C. Rajendran, the BSNL would commission 18 more Base Transreceiver Stations (BTS) in different parts of the district, in addition to the existing nine stations, in the current financial year itself. Mr. Rajendran said that the commiossioning of the BTS at Mallappally, Konni, Kumbanad, Laha and Vadasserikkara would be held in August-September. At present, the BSNL has got BTS at Thiruvalla, Kaviyoor, Adoor, Pandalam, Pathanamthitta, Ranni, Kozhencherry, Pampa and Sabarimalaa. The erection of the BTS at the remaining 13 centres of Elanthoor, Kadambanad, Kaippattoor, Kalanjoor, Kodumon, Kilivayal, Kulanada, Kuttoor, Theodickal, Vennikkulam, Mallasserry and Ayroor would be done by March, 2004, Mr. Rajendran said. He said that the BSNL had already given over 12,000 CellOne post-paid cellular phone connections in the SSA.
