The visit is mainly to call on the relatives of the victims of the massacre, which took place there on May 2. Police presence in the area is being stepped up in view of the visit of the firebrand VHP leader. Speaking to The Hindu, the City Police Commissioner, T. K. Vinod Kumar, however, said no law and order problems were expected to arise during Mr. Togadia's visit But some precautions were being taken since the VHP leader is eligible for Z-plus security. The VHP leader will reach the Kozhikode airport in the morning from Thiruvananthapuram and drive straight to Marad. The VHP leader would spend a couple of hours in the coastal village before leaving for the city. Mr. Togadia's engagements for the day include a Meet-the-Press programme at the Kozhikode Press Club in the afternoon and a public meeting at Muthalakulam Maidan at 5.30 pm.
