Truckers' strike from July 15

By Our Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE JULY 7. Truckers and owners of all vehicles transporting goods will resort to a State-level indefinite strike from the midnight of July 14 in protest against the tax hike imposed by the Government from July 1. Tourist taxi cars will also participate in the strike.

At a press conference here today, the Kerala State Lorry Owners Federation State president, P. M. Mohammed Ali, the general secretary, Francis Kuttikat, and others said the hefty tax hike on goods carriers was unjustified on any count.

The Tanker Lorries Owners Association and the Tourist Bus Operators Association have declared their support to the strike. The CITU, INTUC, AITUC, STU, BMS and UTUC will support the stir.
