Over 400 kids affected in Karimnagar

By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR JULY 7. Even as the district administration has launched sanitation and anti-malarial operations on a war-footing, Government and private hospitals are flooded with children suffering from viral fever in the district.

Panic-stricken people were thronging in large numbers to hospitals for the treatment of children suffering from the viral fever. However, there were no serious cases of children suffering from central nervous system (CNS) failure. Majority of children were treated as out-patients.

A total of 280 children are undergoing treatment in the Government Headquarters Hospital, Karimnagar, 82 in the Sircilla Area Hospital, 29 in Jagtial, eight in Godavarikhani, 18 in Peddapalli, two in Manthani, one in the Metpally area hospital. One serious case at the Government Headquarters Hospital was kept in the intensive care unit on ventilator.

The Collector, Sumita Dawra, said they had procured about 3.5 tonnes of Icon spray for anti-malarial operations in vulnerable villages.

Millers' gesture: The district rice millers association has decided to provide free food to attendants of children undergoing treatment at the Government Headquarters Hospital here.

Our Khammam Staff Reporter writes:

A nine-year-old girl, M. Rajyalakshmi, died of viral fever in Baironpadu Village of Nelakondapalli mandal on Monday. She was admitted to a hospital in the mandal centre three days ago where she died in the day.
