Youzhny gets past Rochus

BASTAD (Sweden) JULY 7. Fourth-seeded Mikhail Youzhny showed he had more time to adjust his game from grass to clay when he edged Olivier Rochus 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-1) in the first round of the Swedish Open on Monday.

Also, Bjorn Rehnquist won his first match on the ATP Tour when the wildcard beat qualifier and Swedish clubmate Henrik Andersson 6-3, 6-1. After winning the 1996 Australian Open boys' title at 18, Rehnquist has struggled to break through on the Tour. This was only his third main draw match in seven years. — AP
