Sir The Babri Masjid demolition trial at the Rae Bareily special court and enquiry proceedings before the Liberhan Commission have brought out the dubious role played by the BJP leaders who occupy high offices at the Centre. On the one hand, the counsel for the Central Government has tried to cover up the role of L.K. Advani and the Sangh Parivar before the Commission, saying they never exhorted the `kar sevaks' to demolish the structure, while the CBI has stated the contrary before the trial court. In fact, it is public knowledge that these leaders encouraged the demolition, but now they are trying to cover up their tracks to suit their present position as senior Ministers. The Commission should take note of the CBI findings before coming to a conclusion on their role.
