This was stated by the union chairman, Ben Darwin, at a press conference held here today to announce the details of the budget and action plan of the union this year. The chairman unveiled a 29-point action plan that includes a student meet against globalisation, a debate series, campaign against communalism, an international film festival, setting up of a library at the union headquarters and a career guidance programme. The budget projects an estimated expenditure of Rs. 38 lakhs for the union this year. The highest allocation of Rs. 6 lakhs has been made for the University Youth Festival. A sum of Rs. 2 lakhs has been set apart for the students' parliament and for setting up the union library.
