Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Special Correspondent
Considered the biggest travel and tourism expo in South India, there will be more than 175 participants from over 15 countries, a 30 per cent increase since last year. The Indian traveller has emerged as one of the fastest growing markets for destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, and trends indicate that more dollar-spending tourists will be coming to this region. For Indian travellers too, with the advent of low cost international airfare and holiday packages on instalments, international travel is no longer a luxury. The Government of Dubai, through its Department of Tourism and Commerce, was the partner country at last year's IITM. The international partners this time include Britain, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Dubai, Sharjah, Indonesia, Nepal, and Bhutan. More than 18 State tourism departments will also be promoting their respective States this year. The exhibitor profile includes national and State tourism promotion boards.
