New Delhi

``So far it has taken measures to distribute cooked mid-day meals to students of just 25 per cent of the students. What about the rest 75 per cent? Why such discrimination'' Mr. Arya asked at a press conference here. Alleging that it was an open violation of the Supreme Court directive, he said that according to it each student of the municipal primary school must be provided mid-day meals for at least 200 days in an year. At the same time, Mr. Arya appreciated the decision of ISKCON to provide cooked mid-day meals to students of five schools in South Delhi. "This is a welcome step. The civic body should encourage such religious and charitable organisations for this noble and pious cause,'' he said. He alleged large-scale corruption in the tendering process for the mid-day meals. Despite tenders being invited in January, the order was placed to the same old company. Mr. Arya demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
