Talking to media persons after a party function, Mr. Karunakaran said he was inclined to let the courts decide the case and he did not require any benevolent treatment. In reply to a question, he said that when every one was alleging that the case was politically motivated, there was no need for him to contradict it. Mr. Karunakaran was reacting to the UDF convener, Oommen Chandy's recent statement that he was for withdrawing the palmolein case against Mr. Karunakaran. The case, which is now before the Vigilance court, related to the import of palmolein from Malaysia in 1992, when Mr. Karunakaran was the Chief Minister.
