By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JULY 4. Japan today expressed keenness to work closely with India on issues of mutual interest in the context of ongoing negotiations in World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The Japanese Vice Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Trade and Industry, Tadakatsu Sano, today told the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Arun Jaitley, during their meeting that the purpose of his vist was to have a dialogue on WTO issues for a better understanding of India's position on various issues including investment.

He said, "We can be of help specially on issues of development as per Doha agenda... we are flexible in our approach in TRIPs and agriculture.''

According to an official release, during the meeting Mr. Jaitley appreciated that the Japan's position was similar on issues such as TRIPS and agriculture. He reiterated India's position on investment saying in spite of discussion in working group on WTO there was no clarity on the issue and the parameters and content were not clear.
