Indian squad for World tourney

BANGALORE July 4. A nine-member Indian squad will take part in the World badminton championship, scheduled to be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 4.

The selection of the Indian players for the meet was based on ranking prevalent in February 2003 and as such, the Indian ace, Pullela Gopi Chand, who is short on international points, doesn't figure in the squad.

The Indian squad: Men: Abhinn Shyam Gupta and Nikhil Kanetkar (singles). Jaseel Ismail and Jason Xavier, Sanave Thomas and V. Diju (doubles). Women: Aparna Popat (singles). Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian (doubles). U. Vimal Kumar (coach).
