Uttar Pradesh
By J. P. Shukla
The BJP in-charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs, Kalraj Mishra, rushed to the pilgrim town today to meet a number of Hindu `sants.' He requested them not to pre-judge the outcome of the negotiations and allow the Acharya to use his good offices to find a solution. Mr. Mishra said that Hindu religious leaders should wait at least till July 6 when the Muslim Personal Board would discuss the formula given by the Acharya. Mr. Mishra met Paramhans Ramchandra Das of the Digambar Akhara, Sri Purushottama Charya of Sugriva Kila, Sri Madhavacharya of Asharfi Bhavan, Sri Jgdish Das of Hamuman Bagh and Swami Kantacharya of Tatatri Math. While Paramhans Ramchandra Das is Chairman of the Ramjanm Bhumi Trust, Sri Purushottamacharya and Sri Madhawacharya are its members. Talking to reporters in Ayodhya later, Mr. Mishra said his talks with the Hindu sants had been quite meaningful. He reiterated the BJP stand in favour of construction of the Ram temple and there had been no change in its approach. Mr. Mishra insisted that his visit to Ayodhya should not be given a political meaning. He had come only to pay his obeisance to Ramlalla and his meeting with the `sants' was also only a routine.
