12,000 teachers to be recruited

CHENNAI June 30. The School Education department will recruit 12,000 teachers to fill the existing vacancies.

The Education Minister, S. Semmalai, in a release today said the Government was keen on meeting the requirement of ensuring 180 days of teaching-learning activity every year. All vacancies for post-graduate teachers (deployed for handling Plus-Two course) would be filled this year. Besides this, more graduate teachers and secondary grade teachers would be recruited.

Mr. Semmalai said 40 higher secondary and 40 high schools would be started this year.
