Marginal rise in Consumer Price Index

SHIMLA: Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (Base 1982-100) registered an increase of one point during May to stand at 494. The increase was attributed mainly to rise in prices of rice, mustard oil, onions, vegetables and fruits, a Labour Bureau release here said. Mumbai recorded highest index of 586, followed by Delhi (568), Kolkata (542) and Chennai (536). However, the point-to-point rate of inflation based on CPI-IW declined from 5.12 per cent in April to 4.66 per cent in May.
